Amid the outcry over his on-air racial slur last week, shock jock Don Imus said Thursday that he had “apologized enough” and that he will not go on “some talk show tour.”
“I’m not going to go talk to Larry King or Barbara Walters or anyone else.”
Racist dudes are racist jerks, no doubt, but the now mandatory apology parade that comes after explicit expressions of that racism just drags these stories out to obnoxious lengths.
Imus made a racist comment, he should rightfully be fired, he should apologize to those he offended, and that should be it. I don’t want to have to hear the phrase “nappy headed hos” ten times a day for the next three weeks. Fire the guy and get it over with.

One has to wonder if Imus is the real problem or if there is a sense of learning from a culture that is apparently OK with referencing women as “Hoes”, “Bitches” and the like. If Hip Hop is representitive of Black Culture, then why is it that when someone talks the talk, he is nationally chastized for his words? Because of his Race?
I don’t condone I-Mans words. He was clearly wrong. He needed to be called out and he was. Fire him? When one considers his charitable work; his ranch where kids with terminal illnesses go to get away from their pain and suffering and on and on, I have to wonder if his punishment is actually born by the countless children and others who have benefitted from his good deads.
Is it time to go after Hip Hop? Do ‘they’ have to go after Hip Hop? I guess so. If they do it to Imus and stop there, then this will die as another hyopcritical racist episode in the ups and mostly downs of race relations.
White middle-class kids out there in suburbia? Learning about Black Culture from MTV / Rap / Hip Hop? No wonder we talk Hoes and Bitches.

Nahh, give me back my I-Man. I’ll kick him in his ass for his slurr and then tune him in again knowing that his appology was sincere, unlike the ethical and moral compass of those who so loudly condemed him.
